Community Support

To develop club activities and support programs to foster goodwill and to advance the general interest and welfare of Amateur Radio within our community is a key part of our mission.  And as such, we look for ways to support our neighbors tailored to the need.

Interview with Lamar Paris, Union County Commissioner on the importance of communication in times of emergency.

Events

There are many events occurring in our mountains through out the year.  Some of them are located in areas where no cell coverage is available - that's where we come in.

In Times of Emergency

What happens if a storm knocks out all communication and important information needs to relayed.  We practice for that and it is called Field Day .

Coordination with Local Institutions

The power is out, a storm has damaged communications and the hospital has a critical patient needing transfer - that is why there are ham radios in our hospitals and we have a team ready to operate them and it's called ARES.
