The Six Gap Century Bike Ride features an ultra-challenging route that takes you up and down six of the steepest climbs in the North Georgia Mountains. Riders test their stamina with more than 11,000 feet of vertical climbing over the 104 mile course, and that is where the communication skills of Amateur Radio is needed. Bikes break down, brakes wear out and so do some of the riders, so coordinating with several other area "Ham Clubs" we alert Net-Control in Dahlonega to send out relief by arranging pickups, ensuring safety and occasionally, they run out of Pickle Juice.
