Baofeng uv17r pro

So, you want to program your Baofeng uv17r pro?

The best method of loading a codeplug in your radio using CHIRP is:

  1. Copy the attached .img file to your computer and unzip it and store it in a directory where you can find it easily.
  2. Open CHIRP and connect the cable to your radio.
  3. Download your radio's current file into CHIRP so that it shows up onscreen in the first tab at the top of the screen.
  4. Have CHIRP open my file that you stored on your PC in step 1, it should appear in a new tab at the top of your screen.
  5. Go to the tab with your old data, in the blank square in the top left corner of your frequency table, click on this empty square so that the whole screen gets highlighted.

When it's highlighted, it looks like this:

  1. In the top menu bar, click on EDIT, then COPY.
  2. Now go to the tab with your old data, click on that empty square in the top left corner and when the screen is highlighted, go to the menu bar and click on EDIT, then PASTE.
  3. My data is now in a codeplug that's formatted for your radio (firmware differences between radios make this process a necessity).
  4. On the top menu bar, click on RADIO, then UPLOAD TO RADIO. Follow the on-screen directions to finish uploading my codeplug to your radio.

That should do it.
